Coordinated terrorist attacks struck the heart of Mumbai, on Wednesday night, killing dozens in machine-gun and grenade assaults on at least two five-star hotels, the city’s largest train station, a movie theater and a hospital. The attacks which were centered in upscale South Mumbai killed more than 100 people and left more than 900 injured. The gunmen are still believed to be holding hostages at one of the hotels. No terror group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks.
The planned synchronized attacks in the heart of India’ financial capital on Wednesday night has rattled the busy commercial hub once again. The manner in which the attacks were carried out by small groups of heavily armed terrorists, sneaking into busy public places, mostly in the dead of the night proves that the terrorists were not just hunting for foreigners with US or UK origin but also other innocent civilians irrespective of their nationality. The Mumbaiites should maintain calm in this hour of complete chaos and anger. We need to remember that people like Afzal Guru, Army officer Lt Col Shrikant Prasad Purohit have no religion and definitely no moral ground to base their acts upon. With elections approaching in I think India needs to brace itself up for more such terror strikes because there are elements within the society who most unfortunately seek to gain from such bloodshed.
